Happiness Contest Entry n2

It was so silent... I always assumed that there would be much more than what I saw...

Miharu was sleeping restlessly in his bed. He looked so unhappy. I don't like to see him unhappy.

I reached out to touch him, shaking him lightly.

   "....Miharu?"

The boy shifted slightly, peeking his eyes open. "Yoi....te...?" His green eyes widened in disbelief. "Yoite?!"

"Miharu..." I smiled, reaching out to him again. I could... I could feel again! I wasn't as cold... was this what death was like? But... If I were dead... Why could Miharu see me?

"Yoite, you're alive! We've been looking for you for so long..."

"...Don't cry Miharu...." I let the younger lean against him, a wide smile across his face, but with tears running down his face. "What's wrong?"

"...I was so worried... we all thought you were dead..... Why?" he looked up, his eyes wet and red. "Why were you gone for so wrong?"

"...I'm alive?" I looked down at myself. I felt more alive and revived then I ever had...

"You're not dead!" Miharu had a command about him. I believed him. I had to be alive...

  "...I don't remember..." I admitted. I tried to picture what had happened before... all I could remember was... dying? Hadn't I died though? After that, all I could think of was walking here...

"...You're here now. You're safe." he smiled, and pressed his hand to my face. He was so warm... so full of life... Without me noticing, he pulled one of my gloves loose from my hand and he seemed to want to cry. I followed his gaze.

"...My hands..."

"You're not going to die... You're going to be okay. We won't have to worry anymore, right?"

I shivered, I could feel my body shaking and my own tears falling. I felt so weak with happiness... I collapsed onto the bed next to him, crying... "I-I'm a-a-alive?"

I could hear his soft laughter and looked up through teary eyes. He was crying too...

"Happily ever after..." he whispered to himself.

"Miharu?"

"We're going to live happily ever after..." he laughed through the tears, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug.
